New Setup Cloudy Water - What to do ?

I just setup my new 55 gallon tank. The salt and sand are in. I have two maxi-jet 1200 powerheads running. I also, for now, put a power filter on the back with the sponge and carbon inside. I do not plan on keeping it there, will use live rock and an Aqua C Remora
Pro skimmer instead. Is there anything I can do to speed up the initial cloudiness in the water ? I have the skimmer ready to install but have not put it on the tank yet. Please help.

Thanks

I would turn the power heads off until everthing settles down and then put the skimmer on after that. Our 90 gallon took 3 to 4 days to clear up.

I always let my powerheads run after I cloud things up. I've never had my tank cloudy the next morning. Maybe I'm just lucky.

I like "quick filters" from Hagen. They cleared up my tank pretty much overnight. They fit on most powerheads. I also use "poly fill" in my overflow to help catch large debris.

In a new tank with a new sand substrate, you can expect the cloud to last anywhere from 24 to 72 hours, before it even starts to clear up. It is totally normal. To help clear it up you can do as the others had said, filter floss and carbon bags help out a lot. I would also recommend to go ahead and start up your skimmer, it might be the single most important thing to clear the cloud.

Did you put the sand in there and then the salt? I am not sure I undestand this part correctly.
You premix the saltwater before putting it in the tank, then the sand in to the tank. is this what you did?
