What species of clams that I can get at the seafood market, work well in the tank? It is my understanding they eat nitrates.

Manila clams (Tapes philippinarum), but they won't last very long. I tried two dozen of these in my 6" DSB tank that was fed D.T.'s live phytoplankton at least three times a week but they lasted less than six months. They starved to death.

You need tropical clams to have any chance of them surviving for very long.Originally Posted by j_man
