fish list???
hey everyone, its been a long time. hope everyone is doing good. well my tank has been running for about 9 months now had five damsels until about a month ago. took those bad boys back to the LFS when i added the bulk of my cleanning crew. now getting ready to stock it. this will be mostly LPS and a few softies reef. not wall to wall corals but a good amount. the tank is about 120ish gal. 72"X18"X20"high with a 45 gal refugium, mud filter with macro algae and skimmer. total cirrculating water is 150gals measured at startup. 150lbs. live rock. i think i have changed my fish list about 100 times. this week i will start adding small groups (not all at once). anyway, here is what i am thinking.
1-yellow clown goby 1-green clown goby 1-black cap basslet 2-false percula clown 2-green chromis 1-2 spot goby 1-lawn mower blenny 1-yellow tang 1-blue "hippo" tang might add a couple wrasse(would be the first fish to go in) or a mandrine. but thinking that would be to much, what to do humm. so what do you guys and girls think. thumbs up or down with or with out the wrasses. |

I don't think the Blackcap basslet will bother the lawnmower blenny; however, it may bother any flasher wrasses. For that reason, I would add the basslet after all of the other fish on your wish list except the tangs. The lawnmower blenny would be a good first addition. (The Blackcap basslet is the deepwater version of the Royal Gramma except that it is a little more aggressive.)
Add the flasher wrasses all at once -- 1 male & 3 females is a good idea. Be aware of the fact that your setup must be jump-proof. Otherwise you will end up with wrasses in your overflows or, worse still, wrasses on the floor. All of the flasher wrasses and all of the fairy wrasses are notorious jumpers. And, when I say they jump, I mean they jump high, not just a few inches above the surface.

nice thanks. i bought the carpenter's wrasse, lawn mower blenny and both clow gobies today. all are doing good, but one of the female wrasse is chaseing the male. the male started to show he was boss then then that one female started to chase him. now i think he is scared of her. humm, i wonder if it is that time of the month for her. the male did take longer to start swimming around. hope this doesn't mean i will have issues with them later, any thoughts?? i do have a canopy but will be gettng egg create tomarrow, to address the jumping issue. the blenny is all over the place great personality. both gobies swam around a little now they are both hiding some where.

ok taking a closer look at the wrasse. 2 of the females have a black dot close to their tail one is some what faded, the other female has no dot this is the one that chases the male. the male is the classic look of the carpenters wrasse. trying to get a pic but it is hard as they move to quickly. i think i might have some filamented flasher wrasse not female carpenter's wrasse.

I don't know what to tell you about the "black dot" thing. I just did an image-google to see what I could find and, as you can see, none of the fish pictured has a black dot near the caudal fin: http://images.google.com/images?q=Pa...1&start=0&sa=N
Be sure to click on that Sailfin Tang at the bottom left side of the first page. It's misidentified by google (or somebody), but click on it anyway. You'll get a 3-page website of a gorgeous 550-gal German tank that is lit with 4x400w metal halides plus natural sunlight from a large skylight above the tank. ![]() P.S. -- Here is the link to that German tank in case the google search drops it.

wow love that tank. i think the females are more than likely the filamented wrasse's. but they all seem to be getting along. the chaseing was not overly aggressive. i still like they the way they look. just hope later they stay friends. just have to wait and see. the male seems to be getting more of the one in charge. just not as bossy as he would normally be. might be a good thing. at least i hope. thanks for the help guys.

My favorite fish is the fridmani psuedocromis a.k.a. orchid Dottyback. The best addition to my tank by far. a simply stunning fish.
