Good Luck Doug! I'll bet you have a big burly 4 wheel drive huh? I won't be without one ever again, and I just live in MI.

I had to get rid of my 4 by 4 truck. To many trips into the city and gas is 35 bazzillion bucks a litre here.

I now drive a Focas wagon. Actually is darn good in the snow. I use winter tires from Nov. to April. My new 180 cube will barely fit in the back. Good thing its a wagon.

Ya I know your gas is even higher then ours, at least I think thats why I see so many ontario plates when I go to Detroit! Last I checked it was $2.40/gallon here.

I'll bet you'll like that tank, I was thinking of one similar, but just didn't have the room. Now that I am in a new house I do have some space, but I think I will leave the 90 alone and build in the basement, a big ole sump, a fuge, and maybe a prop tank, plumbed all together of course... I'll end up with more volume then when I had my 135!

Mike, I was going to leave my 90 alone also, but larger won out, again, somehow.

Made it back with the tank and its now in place, , whewww. Looks good. I see some green in the front starfire, although lighter than the other panes?? Goin to have to talk with my guy about that.

Of to help a friend plumb his closed loop today, so mine will have to sit and wait. Thas fine though, as its only been since Thurs. that it was built. I believe the silicone should set at least a week before water and even then, only a partial fill.

Funny how that happens huh?

I am hoping that adding a HUGE sump and seperate fuge will appease my appetite for bigger! At least for a while.

We put the tank in place on Sunday night, after getting home. Never again, I say. He,he.

Did some drain plumbing today and working on the front. Pardon the mess in the background in the fishroom.

Very nice! Do you plan to do anything to conceal the overflow or just let coralline cover it?

Most likely just let the coralline cover it Scott. Never seems to take long. Have not decided what to do with the sides and back. Paint or make some type of removable covers???

We also added 45g of water late today. Figured it was safe to add that much. Its 6 days now since building. Wanted to get some weight on the 12 leg posts, to make sure they are all correct.

Plus that 50g holding barrel was in my way, once to often.

You aren't saying that little bugger is heavy, are you?
Looks good with water in it. What did they say about the green in the panels?

Guess it depends which is heavier, a ton of bricks or a ton of feathers?

Guys I,m old school. Except for speeds, I still use the same measure as you guys. It did weight a bit. Used a fridge mover to get it down the stairs. I have a wall only a couple feet from the stairs bottom, so its a deadlift of the stairs. When we got to the bottom I leaned against the wall to rest.

My wife has a good sized mirror there. {can you guess the rest, }. When I leaned on it, there was a loud crack. We all thought it was the tank. Bit it was just me breaking her good mirror.:slap: , which I now have to replace.

Charlie, I never asked him yet. Wanted to wait until it was set up and a couple of us looked at it. Its much clearer than the side glass but still has a green tinge in it. Thats not correct for starfire or is it? Or perhaps another version of starfire, maybe cheaper??

Thanks for the good luck wishes guys. Mrs. Papa Doug, said thats it for me. Next one is a 25g tall.

Or your next tank could in a mudd hole out back,"NO food ,no heat, no gas in my work truck, maybe I can walk to the LFS to buy something

Im sure you will replace that mirror pretty quickly.
one time power went out I called home not to see how everybody was doing I was worried about my tank .as my wife would say we know who calls the shots in this house......my tank

Great looking tank. I can't wait to see some rock, fish and corals in there.

Thanks Minh. Long time.

So, as usual, I have no luck, except bad. Must have been the mirror I broke.

We put some water in the tank and used soft clean rags to wipe it down from the mess. All three sides are fine but the front starfire has multiple scratches. I can only assume form wiping but who knows.

How soft is this stuff? Can it be buffer out? Anyone have any experience with it? Also, it still has a green tinge in it, when looking down from the top but much lighter than the others. I thought starfire was clear?

Doug,

I scratched my front glass when piece of crashed coral got stuck between the magnets but in your case I don't believe that soft clean rags could scratch it. Perhaps it was damaged during construction?
I don't have much experience with starphire glass, never owned tank like that, but from what I had seen at the conferences and such, it doesn't really have any green hue to it at all. Does it look greenish on the top edge looking down on it? I hope I understood it correctly...

I know that polishing glass is not something that is done easily, like acrylic for example. I've seen in auto glass where they use some type of chemical to fill the scratches and nicks and then buff them out,I can't even imagine how to do aquariums...
What did the builder say about this?

The LFS has a starfire tank next to a regular glass tank - although there is MUCH less green in it looking from the side, it still has a slightly greenish tint.
