Doug,s 180g Reef Cube

Bought a new tank. Sold or selling everything else I had. :slap:

New tank is a 180g cube style. 4ft.L by 3ft.W by 2ft.H. It will have a starfire front. All 1/2in. glass w/a pair of 4in. braces, spaced about a foot from each end. Single 1 1/2in. overflow. Will go into same place in the wall as my 90 was, just enlarging the opening and building a new stand. Since I had an abundance of 4 by 4 posts left, I put 4 across, with 3 rows. 12 posts in all, of course up against 3 stringers running the length of the stand. Guess that should hold it.

Going to light it with a single, centered 400w halide, most likely 65K Iwasaki. Supplemented with 4 T-5 actinics.

We are stuck in a never ending snow storm here, so not sure when I can go pick it up. Oh well, my livestock is use to living in tubs.

Because its all I have. Also tired of paying stupid prices for multiple bulbs every year. I would use 8 or 10, 65K & actinic N/O bulbs, if I never thought my 4 clams would suffer.

Figure by running a 400- 65K Iwasaki, I can raise it enough for good coverage, still have good penatration and cut my bulb replacement costs to a minimum.

I plan on running at least 4 T-5 actinics though. I liked my friends 400w 20K CV, but its run on a pulse start, compared with my standard PFO ballast.

Ahh I see. Since you have it built in to a wall the bulb can be quite high I suppose. I'll bet it will work out just fine. The T5's must be all actinic then?

Yes, thats correct. The residual, {is that what its called}, , lighting, will only shine in the fishroom, from the extra height. Plus the bulb will be in a Sunlight Supply pendant. Yes, the T-5,s will be all actinic or at least thats the plan.

*GGRRRR* I *HATE* when it sends the message before I'm done typing....

Anyway, as I was saying...

Papa Doug,
It looks like all your palm trees are frozen. I don't think they'll survive. My condolences.

Poseidon, I removed your first attempt. Everything is frozen here.

Charlie, we Canadians always like to share. You dont think all those new, huge wind turbines are for just electrical power? We are blowing the bad weather down south.
