Nitrates and phosphate levels would be good. Also check out the last 2 editions of RHO where I cover a nuisance algae problem.

Put 50 or 60 more Turbos in there. That should help immensely (I've got about 100 in my 65). You may want to ease up on your feeding if you're feeding more than 2 or 3 times a week, strain any frozen foods, steer away from flake/pellet for a while.
What is your source water?

You should stock only a few. Say 3 for starters and wait a few weeks. You should stock until you have little algae left in the morning. |

Zebra stripe turbo snails!!
i put in 6 zebra stripe snails into my 46 gallon tank with the same algae problem a little over a month ago and they are quite possibly the best snails i have ever owned. my glass and rocks have been virtually spotless since and i worry that they will starve! i may be moving a few to my sump or quarantine tank. I got them 3 for 8.88, well worth it and they are huge. highly recommend.

Zebra stripe, would these also be known as bumblebee snails? Not sure what a zebra stripe snail is.

No, they are not like bumblebee snails. They are about the same size (maybe slightly larger) as mexican turbo snails but their shells are definetly different.
I found them at my LFS, though i found them here as well: http://www.petsolutions.com/Zebra+St...-16117-C-.aspx http://www.aquacon.com/snails.html Last edited by NoveltyTaste; 01-03-2006 at 03:04 PM. |
