Angry Help !!!!!

When I came home about 30min ago I noticed my clam was dead.
It looks like something killed it, because the sand is pushed away from the shell. Like it was blowing water out trying to defend its self. Is there any kind of clam killing worm/crab,ect. pleas help.

Everything else looks ok. I am going to test the water, and do a water change. Thanks for the help R1

I had a lawnmower blenny kill a maxima, and 2 cleaner shrimp that killed a crocea clam.

Do you have either of these?

No. I don't have either. I'm thinking it is my emerald crab.

I figured out what killed my clam. A couple of days ago, I cut my umbrella leather. After reading Garf's page, I discovered this is harmful to clams and will kill them quickly.

I am not so sure your leather did it. A matter of opinion. I had 2 clams and one day one of them decided to literally shoot itself off the rock it was on and finally died!! Guess it was its time.

WHAT You got to be kidding me! R1 I would love to see the webpage you got this information from garf....PLEZ post the link and if you dont have the link can you plez elaborate a little more on what you read? I have a 6" Maxima and a 3" Deresa in my tank and I also have a large toadstool umbrella sacrophyton right next to the Maxima....I have sliced that toadstool into about 6 pieces right there in the tank and have NEVER had a problem with the Max or Deresa when doing this! (I do squirt a tad of iodine and strontium in when i do this though) I only frag in optimum conditions though.

I have read the article you just posted, they say NOTHING about sacrophytons releasing toxins in the article, what I believe you read in this article was that they experinced that palythoa cuttings in the tank will release toxins. palythoa and sacrophytons are 2 different corals. here is the section of that article that is applicable

We have lost two of my most beautiful and healthy clams due to cutting Palythoa ( they look like Zoanthids ) directly in my tank. They are so toxic that in less then 24 hours they killed two huge and healthy clams. The toxin released by the Palythoa is called Palytoxin. It is being used for treatments for people who are suffering from muscular dystrophy. In years past it was used for poison darts

Here is a picture of a palythoa
