I use epoxy for SPS corals and Gel Super Glue can be used for Zooanthids and other soft corals.
When do you apply the "cement" SPS out of water- correct. I understand SPS's can stay out for up to 3 hrs. Zoanthids "cement" is applied under water- correct? Thanks for your help.
When I apply epoxy I add the coral immediately to the tank, I don't wait for it to dry or harden if that's what you mean.
How lonmg can the coral remain out of the tank when you are applying the epoxy? Thanks.
I'm sure it probably could survive for several hours but I've never tried it, I add it immediately to the tank and place it in it's final destination before the epoxy hardens.
Therefore, to summarize you remove the coral from the bag by the base or rock it is on, epoxy it to the rock and immediately place it in your aquarium. Is this correct? Thanks again.
Yes that is correct farstar the whole process takes but a few minutes.
Thank you so much. Have a great day.
I use the two part marine epoxy from HD to attach larger corals if I have too. Most of the time I just mount frags on rubble rock using super glue gel..Keep an eye on your skimmer if you use epoxy, that stuff has always made my skimmers go nuts.
I use the epoxy from marineland and aqua medic didn't know the stuff from HD would be ok to use, probably alot cheaper.![]()
When you use the epoxy, and have to add the coral to the tank quickly(re:zoanthids), how do you do it since the epoxy isn't dry yet? Thanks.
The epoxy will harden even completely submerged, but for Zooanthids I would use the super glue gel it's much easier to use.Originally Posted by farstar
