SPS Coloration

Usually after a short while of purchasing an sps the color begins to fade to a brownish color in my tank. The coral doesn't die but it just doesn't look as good as when I purchased it. My water quality parameters seem fine however, I do have a 2-3 degree temperature change from day to night. Any thought's on possible causes??

Thanks

Well you definitely have proper lighting, what about your parameters what are the cal/alk levels and nitrate ? How much flow do you have ? The temp isn't an issue IMO my tank fluctuates from 82 to as high as 86 F in the summertime and nothing has suffered.

Cal. 450 Alk. 3.5 MEQ/L nitrate low scale not measurable. I'm running about 650GPH though filter and have 1 Tunze Stream 6000 one a single controller.

Well the lighting and parameters are ideal. It's possible that the corals are still aclimating to your tank especially if they're wild colonies and have been severely stressed during transport. I had a nice purple acro frag that bowned out in my tank and stayed that way for about 4 months and now is coloring up very nicely so don't give up hope.

Is this a well established tank ? Do you have a nice cover of corraline algea throughout the tank ?

What kind of lighting are the corals coming from and what kind of acclimation are you doing?

Exact same lighting in the store, in fact thats where I bought my lights. I had the tank up about 9 months then the tank developed a leak, I transfered everything to this tank in Oct. 05. coralline has never been that great. I'll keep a close eye on it, thanks
