Looking for an opinion....would it be o.k. to put 2 sailfin tangs (1 pacific and 1 red sea ) and a yellow tang in a 225 gallon reef tank? Any and all recomendations welcome. If not all three, how about the 2 sailfins?

I don't have three tangs but I do have 2 in a 180, a purple and yellow. The yellow one was in the tank for about a week and then I added the purple. They did battle for 2 days but now they are fine togeather. I have approx. 190lbs of LR with lots of tunnels and caves to they kind of stay away from each other. They do pass each other now and then but no porblem now.

With the size of your tank, 3 tangs should be fine. I don't know, but I'd think that 3 of the same variety would be a little more difficult, as they would be more likely to want to do battle. I have a powder blue, regal, and foxface and they are great pals. But they all have different body shapes so they don't feel they're competing for the same feeding niche. But, like I said, the size of your tank is a big plus so 3 sailfins might work OK.

If anyone can have a good chance in keeping 3 tangs, I think you can with the 225 gal. tank. Just make sure they are introduced in the order specified above(least to most aggressive).
