Omg What Is It?
Ok, I got two things in my saltwater tank and they are grossing me out. They both live in the rock. One is a worm looking thing, about an inch long. It is 1/2 and 1/2 grey and pink. Perfectly 1/2 grey perfectly 1/2 pink.
Second is an all white thingy that reminds me of a spider. It it a dot with 5 wormy looking arms coming off the dot. The dot is in the middle with wormy arms coming off the sides. It walks *VOMIT*I'm seroiusly thinking of throwing out the whole tank, fish and all cause I am NEVER putting my hands in there to clean it again. PLEASE HELP ME!!! Miranda_RAT@yahoo.com |

Hi MirandaEmard,
![]() It sounds like the first is a bristleworm. This is a harmless little guy that is beneficial in your tank since it is a scavenger. The second sounds like a star fish of some kind. I don't think you have anything to worry about with either of these eating you up at night. ![]() |

![]() THere are LOTS of those things in your tank! They are perfectly normal, and will not harm you. Well the worm can in some cases cause a painful sting, but nothing you can't handle. |

So the possible star fish...this is smaller than a dime, well maybe a dime size with legs all stretched. But, do star fish walk that fast and this looks soft, not hard like my 2 big starfish.

Sure, there are a lot of little mini brittle stars that are small and move pretty quickly.

I have the same thing!!! There is a worm of some sort living under a a large rock, and under a small frag I've seen as many as 8 baby starfish!
There is one big one, where if you stretched him out, he'd fit on a quarter. And a bunch of smaller, dime-sized guys. Also, I have a rock frag that's covered in Colonial Polyps and two fan worms. I've noticed that when my light comes on at 9AM, (also known as feeding time) there are several small pink and purple tentacles that creep out from among the polyps to grab flakes as they drift by. Can anyone suggest what they are? |
