What Do You Feed Your Polyps?

I just got my first coral ever....a green button polyp. I got a fantastic deal so I went ahead and got it while I could, and I know enough about them that I know I want a polyp/mushroom tank....and the greens are the easier ones to take care of.....but...I still want some opinions about what you experts out there are feeding yours?

I know I've seen Kent Phytoplankton and Zooplankton formulas...is this a good formula?

Any opinions would be appreciated....thanks!

When I kept button polyps (Palythoa) I used to feed them mysid shrimp using small turkey baster. Gently squirt some of the shrimp on the polyp and watch as it will close quickly to capture food and reopen as soon as it is consumed, wanting more, of course. You can use any meaty stuff that you feed your fish as well, just make sure it is small enough that the polyp can use( it's a big polyp, I know ).

Thank you for your input, Zhenya. Looks like I'll be getting a turkey baster soon then to try and feed them with.

Sounds like a plan to me.

I forgot to answer this question last night...

For the feeding Palythoa neither one will be useful. Phytoplankton is basically consumed by filter feeding organisms in your tank and zooplankton is just too small to satisfy something hungry like the button coral.
Mysid shrimp, formula one and prime reef cubes are also fine food to offer to this coral.

HTH.

Thanks Zhenya, you've been very helpful. I'll look for that when I get to the lfs this weekend.
