My Arrow Crab Is Now Clawless
My killer Sptted Hawkfish got into a fight with my Arrow Crab, and the Arrow Crab lost...both of his claws. He feeds himself now by squatting down over the DSB and stirring up detritus with his other legs. He looks pretty pathetic.
Will he grow new claws back before he starves to death? I'm about ready to take a spear gun after my highly intelligent Hawkfish. He's too smart to fall for hooks, nets or traps. |

They'll grow back, whether or not he'll die before they grow back is a matter for speculation. I guess that depends on how much food you have in your sand bed...
(I'm reminded of an old Bill Cosby Line..."How long can you tread water..." ) hehehe ![]() |

They will grow back the next time he molts. I know for some crabs when they loose a claw it triggers the molting process to occur sooner then might be usual. The real question is will the hawkfish take him out when he is vulnerable and soft during the molting process.
