First pics of new 180

The new tank is finally taking shape. It is still pretty bare, at least compared to the defunct 210. The first fish went in on 12/26, but these are the first pictures I have taken.

New stylophora:

First acro:

Apogon cyanosoma pair. There are four in the tank.

My female swallowtail (Genicanthus melanospilos):

Congrats, Doug!

Very fine fish you'd chosen... I know it;s a bit early for a full tank shot but if you have one, please post it. I like to see how your scape looks and such.
I like to extend another offer for any frags of the corals that you may like in my tank. Just give me a holler if you interested.

Oh, almost forgot, good luck with that table acro, looks like a neat colony.

Doug,

Great pics!

I love all the genicanthus angels! Are you eventually going to try to find her a male to keep her company??

This female came into the LFS as a pair, but someone purchased just the male. I'm not sure I will try to find a mate, since the males tend to be pretty large and my list of desired fish will probably be enough to overload the tank.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I know how finicky they can be.

I will try to get a whole tank shot. The aquascaping is much different, but it's just piles of rock right now.

Mike,

Genicanthus sp. are all planktivores. The whole family is reef safe. And good-looking! (and pricey most places, although you can occasionally see the zebras for cheap!).

Some more pictures. I moved the two fish I had in quarantine into the display tank. First, the pyramid butterfly (h. polylepis):

And my clown fairy wrasse (c. solarensis):

Finally, a couple of new frags. There are more, but the pictures didn't come out well.

Here's what I picked up at the new store, In Living Color, in Marlton, NJ. This is an exceptional place, especially when it comes to corals. Their fish selection is spotty, but it is hard to judge from opening day. From what my son says, their freshwater section is incredible too, but I didn't make it that far.

Very nice Doug! How's the Stylophora doing? It looked a bit bleached in the shot above. They can be a bit tricky it acclimate. Has it colored up? They are one of my favorite corals.

Regards,
Kevin

The stylophora is holding its own. The polyps on the interior, more shaded, regions have browned up a bit, which I consider to be a positive sign. There are two commensual crabs living in this coral. Their camoflage is pretty good. Here is a picture of a molt from one of them.

Hi Doug,
I agree nothing wrong with browning, shows the coral is capable of establishing a good population of Zooxanthellae. I really like the cool life that often comes in with the Seriatapora and Stylophora colonies. I got a S. hystrix once that had two crabs and a pistol shrimp living in one colony

Regards,
Kevin
