Thanks for the pics! Nice clowns and BTA you got there. I had never seen one of those Tunze porcelain rock cover thingies in a tank...

I dont think I like the rock....seems to be more of a pain in the ass than anything. I need to get an extension for the pump hanger though. Im pretty good with my hands and building stuff from blueprints but tunze I think has monkeys putting the directions together. Who the hell do ya suppose came up with those **** directions for the hanger, my god you would have to be a friggen rocket scientist to figure the thing out and the diagrams just plain suck in the directions. Took me about a hour just to figure out that I needed another piece to make it longer Oh well, next week I will probably pick up that magnet deal to hold it and be done with it and the fake rock will come out. I just dont know if I like that fake rock or not I think reefland has one in his tank thats why I got one cuz it looked good in his....then again he probably has his in his tank the right way as mine is just sitting there. What did you think about that rock bubba..

I had my Streams in the "Deco" rocks for a short time when I first set up my 210, but they just didn't seem practical. The Streams must be cleaned and soaked in vinegar every few months, which means that the rocks must be removed from the tank. The pump must then be twisted around to separate it from the rock. This, in turn, means that only hardy organisms that can withstand handling without getting broken or injured can be attached to the rocks. The rocks are not exactly petite, so they end up consuming way too much valuable real estate in the tank. I ended up using the blasted hangers to suspend them in the front corners of the tank and sold the rocks.

Todd,
I thought the rock looked...uh...uncured.... but I assume that coralline algae and other stuff will grow on it with time and will blend in well with the rest of the rock. I also think that if we weren't looking down the barrel of the pump it might look a little more natural-ish. Every time I had seen one of the rocks, it was on a web page and wasn't in the context of a tank....

I appreciate dougc sharing his experience. I hadn't thought about cleaning the dang pumps.... and if you gave the whole shebang an acid bath, you'd be back to the white porcelain every month.

I really appreciate you both sharing your pictures and your experience... that's one more thing I don't have to buy, only to put in the closet full of obsolete aquarium items.:slap:

The rock is out and the pump is now hanging in the back corner. Stupid rock, that thing looked hideous and I can see where it would really get in the way of cleaning the pump.
