It's good to know that you have a grasp on this since apparently every biologist/ecologist in the world is fooled into thinking invasive species are a major concern.

If you can't change the world, change history- TRT

No, it could never be!Stop listening to the sheep and go look for yourself. Go look on how life starts and migrates to every niche in the world. From the volcanic vents at the bottom of the ocean to the nematodes in the middle of Antarctica there is life everywhere.
You simply don't give it enough...Life on this planet is always migrating, moving, expanding, mutating. Expanding into new environments and evolving until it meets a hospitial area. You give man too much credit.
Probably the same reason I'm not out helping teach impoverished children how to read. Or the same reason I'm not out picketing for an end to the war in Iraq. 1) I don't have the time or the motivation 2) I don't think it would make much a difference 3) I'm too lazy 4) I just don't care enough. And if you really felt that it was bad that the animals and plants that have migrated (or invaded) the bay or any other non “natural” environment, how come you are not out there pulling up clams, or burning back Kudzu? How come you are not in a boat protesting? How come you are not out there “restoring the natural balance”???
But honestly, right now I'm a law student... so the most I can do at this moment in time is do my best to learn the law and perhaps volunteer my time where it matters most when the time comes that I can actually make a difference.
And I'm sure you care about starving children and battered women and a whole lot of other problems you're not currently working to change.
There's a difference between change and total anihilation.Natural balance is always in change. Too bad some people just don’t get that.
Good for you... but it will never be enough. You can pick up all the trash you want. But where are you going to put it? In a trash can? or recycle bin? Then what? The trash goes to a dump. The recycling plant just turns in into something else that will again become trash (by a process consumes more fossil fuels). It's only until we learn how to stop producing so gosh darn much of it, things are just going to deteriote faster and faster until earth starts to look more and more like Mars.I recycle, I pick up trash on the beach, I clean up when I am hiking and skiing in the mountains, but I also have read, studied, and seen enough to know how the cycle of the world works, and that we are not stewards of this planet, but rather just tenants.

I think you have a rather poor grasp on the situation if you believe that.Originally Posted by greenbean36191
Only very few professional panic mongers/scam artisits (mostly in America) believe it is an issue (well besides the public that they have conned).
Go look at the "biologists/ecologist" of your choice that is outspoken on the issue and pull up their website and the like. Find out where they get their funding. They get the majority of their funds by causing the panic that you are subscribing too.
But if it was a world wide biologist concern why did that article call out the fact that the Japanese (arguably the ones with the worst possible case with what is happening in Tokyo bay) have so few concerns about it??? Are the Japanese less concerned about the enviroment that the average american??? Or just better informed.
You need to do some research behind what the fear mongers want you to do. At very least please go read Michael Crichton's book "State of Fear", his bibliography in that book has a dozen books and articles that will help you understand.

... Okay if you say so. I can not make a man change his religion, I can just inform him of the truth.Originally Posted by sihaya

I think your definition of total annihilation and mine are obviously rather different. There's a difference between change and total anihilation.
Uh... again I can't change a person’s religion... many will believe what they wish, often because they don't know better. I can't fault you for that.Good for you... but it will never be enough.
