Blue Squamosa!!!

I recently found these Blue Squamosas on a couple of web sites and noticed that they are expensive but i really want one... Here are 2 of the examples..

The first one was on www.Reef-Care.com

http://www.reef-care.com/spscoral.htm

The next one was on www.ReefScience.com for almost double the amount!!
but it was sold..

Let me know what you guys think!!!

I think they're too expensive. I've been watching these for the past few months now. Reef Science has been pricing the 5"-6" blue squamosas at $800-$1000 and the 3"-4" ones around $499-$599. That seems like a lot to me.

These were available two or three years ago for $300-$400 in the 6"-7" size. If they're showing up at more than one vendor, chances are the prices will start to come down as the market dries up. People for whom money is no object will buy up the early ones and then the prices will start to fall.

This is just a fad right now. Sorta like hot pink Ricordea yuma selling for $300 for a single polyp.

P.S. -- Before you actually buy one of these, be sure to ask the vendor what lighting he used to take the pictures. If they were photographed under 20,000K metal halides with actinic supplementation, they will look a lot bluer than they will under 10,000K halides.

They are very nice looking! ... I also like the black and white zebra-striped clam thingies (T. maximas?)... they cost a bundle, too....
