    One too many leathers

I have finally found a devils hand that I absolutely must have but in my 75g I already have 3 other species of leathers. I'm worried for the health of my other corals and that I might be overdoing it. I'll get rid of one leather if I have to for this particular piece. What do you guys think?

I'm also not sure I used the word to in the title correctly......college is really paying off!

    Chuck,

I'm assuming you are talking about a Lobophytum pauciflorum and are aware how highly toxic this species are, especially to the stonies. Check out what Eric Borneman has to say about the Lobophytum genus, you can find it on a page 129 of the book I sent you. They are very pretty corals but I hope you are prepared for it and have a plan to combat the toxins. ;)
    Kind regards,

    Gene.

I won't be keeping it with any sps but it'll be in with a bunch of lps and polyps....and as I mentioned 3 other species of leather. Zhenya do I get the impression from you that this might be a bad idea?

Here is a pic of what I want
actually since blane is being neat I can't copy the pic but here's a link

I think if you run carbon in your tank, you'll be fine! JMO

I think you should go for it I have had 4 types of toadstool leathers at the same time well spaced out and ran carbon with a refugium one was a foot wide,as some people said you may want to stay away from the sps in the same tank because of toxicness.

I think you should go for it, I have 4 types of leathers in my tank and all are growing very well, including a devils hand that looks just like the link you left.

Normally with water changes soft corals can be kept together. Some of your LPS corals may suffer but usually the reaction is gradual and you will notice that each time you do a water change the LPS will swell and look good. Then after 10 days or so it will shrink down and look tight to the skeleton. Not all LPS are affected. It also depends on how large the soft corals are and what species. Sinularia, Lemnalia, and Sarcophyton can be particularly toxic species while Capnella sp. (Kenya Tree coral) are realativly benign.

    Samper,
A trade would be nice but unfortuantally I know the cost of shipping is greater than the coral is worth. Ask around your area. I found people in CO that are willing to trade things. I do have a Devils hand, Kenya tree coral, Colt coral and some other type of finger.
