    Starting up my 450

    Hello,
I put rock and water in this tank Dec. 12th 2005. I cured the rock for 5 weeks beforehand in a 150 gal stock tank with a 2000gph skimmer It will contain mostly SPS corals, clams and a few LPS corals. For fish I'm putting in mostly Anthias species. Right now I have 2 baby black and white tank raised A. ocellaris clownfish, 4 Cook Island P. ventralis anthias, 1 S. latus Anthias, and 5 P. tuka anthias. I will see how these do for a month or so before adding 5 P. bartlettorum Anthias, a male N. carberryi anthias, 5 P. dispar Anthias.

    Regards,
    Kevin

Yes this one is at the store. It was delivered May 10th 2004
Anyone notice how expensive these things are to setup? Here are some pictures of the delivery, installation and back showing the closed loop (3,600gph). I'm picking up a 163 gallon sump/refugium for it Sat. at the PSAS meeting (Bob Fenner is going to be speaking ). I also have a Magdrive 24 (2400gph) delivering water from the sump over the end for surface agitation.

    Regards,
    Kevin

This last picture was taken November 2004! Who would of thought it would take a year to get water into it?

It looks fantastic, Kevin. I'm looking forvard to the progress and future images of those beautiful fish that you selected.
    Kind regards,

Yes there is a 8' long overflow. I'm going to play around with some surge tanks. It can handle 1200 gallons in a min. :eek3:

Thanks for the kind remarks and for looking

The arch rock in the center weighs 80 lbs and the purple one on the right weighs 67 lbs. There is a total of about 275 lbs. I'm putting in frags of my most highly prized/favorite corals over the next few weeks. Most of them are fairly slow growers. IME the bright blue corals have the slowest growth. I have about a dozen of them

Looks good. Have you kept tukas and ventralis anthias before? From what I understand, they are both pretty tough to keep alive.

    Hi Doug,
This is my first time for Tukas. They are very hard to elicit a good feeding response from. I have kept Ventralis and they are easier.

Keep us posted on how your anthias do over time. They are some of my favorite fish, but I have had very mixed success with them.

    Looking good.

I look forward to future pics so that I can watch it grow.
