recently i lost a green carpet anemone. he moved behind the rockwork where i couldnt get him. after almost a week i dismantled it and placed him back to a more suitable position. the next day it moved under a different rock and turned upside down. i left it like that because ive seen it go upside down before but then correct itself.
the next day i figured what the heck! so i corrected it again and noticed its insides turning out.
it looked like his "foot" coming out his mouth. i knew something was wrong, but did nothing. evidently he started to rapidly decompose so i took it out immediately.
as soon as i brought it out of the water i smelled the most horrific smell ever! sewage times 100! that thing reeked!i almost lost it right there in the tank. the smell stayed on my hands even after 5 washes too.
i did a full test but nothing seemed off. the only thing i could think of is that i used melafix, and thats when i started noticing some behavioral changes.
i felt really bad about the whole thing.
but if you never have one die on you, make sure you use a respirator before you handle the carcass!
