Zeovit

I was wondering if anyone has been using zeovit products in there tanks and what they thought of it. does it work better than other products? is there something else that i could use that is better. So you know i have a 58g sps tank, right now i am just using plankton and basic nutrients reef solution. i have a mrc recirculation skimmer, uv sterilizer. 40 g sump, 75ilbs live rock. if anyone has any info it would help out a great deal thanks rich

Rich,
I've used it on and off again...I started up a ozone generator and shut down the Zeovit. I was told a few days ago by one of the Zeovit dealers that some guys are using both so I might start back up again. If you've got money burning a hole in your pocket then I'd say give it a shot. I managed to keep a pretty nice tank without it (before Zeovit) Its a snake oil that works for some people. I'm good friends with one of the dealers and one of the reactor builders so it didn't cost me very much to get started. There's is a new Zeo product called "Pohls Coral Vitalizer" (spelling is close enough) Some guys say this along works just as well.

You'll get a lot more info if you visit Zeovit.com

well i went on captive corals web site and they said that it takes time to actually work correctly. no i have talk to frag farmer.com and they said that if i used a calcium reactor. i would only need to use the coral vitalizer (phols), phols potasium iodide and phols amino acids. I also read that you have to have a low nutrient tank to use it which i do but my concern i guess is for the foods that they offer and nutrients do i need to use more of there products to make it work or could i just use those three i mentioned as foods and nutrients for the tank. i guess what i am getting at is i am trying to get the corals natural colors to come out. i have had success with just plankton and basic nutrients. i was just trying to see if anyone is using something that really works because i here of all these different foods people using different things just looking for any advice thank you i will look at there website.

The guy you talked to at Fragfamers is Eric.. I visit his shop about once a week just too shoot the bull. I don't know what a Cal reactor has to do with using Zeovit I couldn't think of the other product the guys are using along with CV so I didn't write it, your right, its the amino acids. Most guys I know use Lugols so they wouldn't use the Zeo iodine.

You might want to check back with Eric in a few months. He's going to pull two of his tanks off Zeovit and see if things loose color. I've thought about using the CV and AA and its not that I can't afford it but at 56.00 for the small bottle I'm going to have to see some more proof. I waste enough money on this hobby.

I have another buddy who started using it a few weeks ago.

Oh, at the moment I don't use any kind of additives other then feed Cyclop-eez,flake food and a few drops of lugols every week.

see i was using the same thing cyclop-eez and live plankton, couldn't complain about the colors. It was on corals that i purchased because they turned brown i wasn't having any sucess after months on getting them to get any of there color especially knowing what mother colony they came off of.

When i talked to frag farmer he told me not to use zeovit unless i had a calcium reactor because if your calcuim, magn, etc...was jumping up and down it zeovit wouldn't be as effective and you would be wasting your money. now mabey i misunderstood him and that is my fault but i figured that if you were using cv and aa that you are feeding your corals that it shouldn 't if you use a ca reactor or not. Like i said everyone is using diff. things, and you here all this talk about diff. kinds of plankton and food. just trying to find out what is the best or i should say what works the best.
