    Go Figure

Well. After introcing a carpet anemone for a few months which my clowns showed absolutely no interest in, I introduced a bubble tip. The bubble tip was doing very well on his own but still the clowns showed no interest. My porcelain crab however is quite taken with it. Today, I see my clowns snuggling into one of my hairy mushrooms. Go figure

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but your blue carpet anemone and your new BTA will fight, especially in a 22-gal tank. They will engage in chemical warfare.

Carpet anemones require large tanks -- much, much larger than 22 gallons. A small BTA could probably survive in a 22-gal tank but it really requires something at least 40-gallons or larger for optimum health.

Whether your clownfish accept either of your anemones as a host depends on the species of clownfish and the species of anemones. If you still have Ocellaris clowns, they may accept the BTA in time even though it is not one of their natural hosts. There are three species of carpet anemones. Do you know which one you have?

Do you still have the saddleback clown or just the Ocellaris?

In a 22g tank they may do more than that and engage in a physical confrontation as well. Now, why would anyone put a carpet anemone in a 22g tank is beyond me, and than to make things worse add another species of anemone is a sure shot to see trouble in a very near future.
Michael, what are your plans for the future of this animals, when they get larger and larger?
    Kind regards,

    Gene.

Thanks for getting back guys with your comments however the carpet was removed from the tank long ago and the bubble tip is the sole anemone in the tanks so no conflict there.
