red sea skimmer prob
Hi all,
my red sea skimmer has a built in headache that I'm curious if any one else has experienced or has a solution for - the 3/4 " threaded female intake at the bottom of the skimmer, leading to the venturi, is almost impossible to get a good water seal w/o cracking. I try using white plummer tape w/o success; if you use too little tape you have get no seal and water leaks, or if you use too much tape you crack the skimmer rendering it trash. Please keep in mind that I'd like to be able to clean the venturi and have some ease of access.(i'm on my second $250 skimmer) any thoughts other than throwing it away would be welcomed. |

Are you sure your getting the teflon tape wrapped correctly so that it stays on when threaded? This should be enough to keep the fitting from leaking, unless there is already a crack that you haven't seen.

Plenty of teflon tape and not overtightening...
