FEEDING FISH and ANEMONE NOT EATING
I have been neglecting to ask, but my anemone hasnt eaten any of the things I have tried to feed to it. krill, shrimp and silversides. It used to eat 2 or 3 times a week and now I havent seen him eat in ........ must be darn near a month now. Any suggestions? It looks ok, he puffs up nice and full. It seems ever since I moved him he hasnt eaten. When I rearanged my rock a month ago or so I had to remove him from his rock and put him in a different location which he quickly tucked into and hasnt moved since. Would he be getting his full share of food he needs from the marinesnow or phytoplex that I add or mabey from the fuge. I wonder if the algea that I put in the fuge is mabey dieing or dead and is poluteing the water for him. I did have the algea in a bucket with heat for a few days and then I had put it into my overflow box for a day, about a hand full.....but it is still green. Now im wondering though if mabey I should not have used the algea...I think its chaetamorph something or other, just a ball of green stuff that rolls around the fuge. Also I think I found the problem to a brown alge outbreak in the tank, I am guessing that is from overfeeding so I cut back to feeding one time a day, at night when I get home and then a small chunk of brine shrimp that I thaw out before I go to bed. I mix a pinch of Tetra marine flakes and freeze dried plankton that the fish seem to devour even when I was feeding 3 times a day, and of course I was feeding my anemone all the above meat and my hawkfish he likes to snatch pieces of krill out of my fingers, I feed him 2 krill a day. Am I doing something wrong.

I could not get my carpet to eat for a year ( yes a year!) No matter what I tried to feed him. He did shrink a little but never lost color nor shape. I just tried to feed him once a week untill he started to eat again.
good luck, Martin

Hi Todd,

I would certainly look into coaxing your anemone to accept something meatier, like those silversides or raw shrimp. You can also try cutting that food in small chunks and offer it then.

That is what he was eating and then all of a sudden up and stopped, but since I posted this it has taken a silverside this week.
