perfect size tank?

is there such a thing?

I have a 40 high & am finding that my options are pretty limited....i have also heard that the larger the tank, the easier to maintain

i was looking a 75 bow-front, but even that seeks to limit my options.....is there a size that optimizes choices, but isn't monstrous in size?

thanks!

it all depends on what you are willing to spend. it is true that the bigger the tank, the less likely variables such as temp/no2/no3... will affect the water, however its more expensive to fill with rock and coral, not to mention your water changes will be a bit of a project. i have a 90gal. with a 30gal sump. its eazy maintanence-i already i want a 250gal. but its so flippin expensive. there is no perfect tank size...its whatever YOU like, ya know.

id suggest this...go with the 40 for a while and see how you like the hobby before you go all out and get a monster, only to find out that its too much work and money.

thanks for your input, optical

years ago we had a 55 fish only tank....that was okay, but that was more my hubby's thing...personally, i found it a bit much....watching him feed the live fish to even bigger fish

this one was intended to be fish only, but as i started reading & researching, the reef thing reminded me of my garden (i am an avid gardener)

so, the tank turned into a my thing....so far, i am in love w/ the whole process....although, just like w/ my flowers, it can be a little stressful at times

as far as cost...yep, a big consideration....but, one thing abut this hobby, taking your time pays off in more ways than one
