Exclamation should i be getting excited?

ok ive not gotten much positive input regarding the reef bones, and have settled to the fact that its just decoration--UNTIL over the weekend something red in color with a orangish white tip is now protruding from the rock, its shaped sort of like a clover leaf.

    What now?

no just three pieces of the infamous reef bones we've been discussing and 3 damsels who have been in there for a week now because my brother bought them as a surprise not knowing that the tank had to cycle before adding anything to , but they seem to be doing fine, havent done any testing yet, only salinty and its doing fine

i wanted to add live rock and get my lights befor adding anything else, have a friends homemade light on top until i get mine because of the fish, plan on getting or making lights next friday

found out my little red sprouts are some kind of sponge, went to store and saw some on their live rock in the bins and asked what it was. so apparently my reef bones were dead at all if the sponge came back, according to the store i got lucky,

From what I can tell on CaribSea's web page, reef bones are the same stuff they use to dump in the Gulf to make aquacultured live rock: fossilized coral. You can find it pretty cheap here in Florida, but since it has been dead for a few thousand years, the chances of something growing from it are pretty darn slim. "Almost live" means that it is the same rock used to aquaculture live rock... and all you have to do is cure the stuff and you'll have live rock. "Almost live" does not mean that it was recently living.

I'm using a half and half mix of fossilized coral and Tonga live rock. Cured them together in the same tank. We'll see how well it works. The fossilized coral has some great porosity and shapes.

Hmmm... now that the tank is full, I could convert the pool to saltwater...

im hoping that something will come of the piece but if not its beautiful shaped addition, the only thing is there are a lot of these sprouts, they are hard, couldnt budge them at all and one of the rocks is has A LOT of the on it. im hoping it doesnt cover all the rock and leaves room for something else, it is a fairly large piece
