Impulse buy, need a quick rundown on a derasa;)

I've got a 55 with about 400 or so watts of T-5's on it. I set it about midway up the tank on a piece of live rock with low current. I know they prefer sandy substrate but he seems to like it there and I figured the more light the better. Will that be ok? Thanks for the input.............Well It looked a little unstable on the rock so I moved him to the substrate. Any care and tips are welcome.

I think your better pff putting em down on the sand. You have enough light that's for sure. Your probably giving it too much light as it is seeing how you just got it.

I put him down in the bed and he seems happy. Do they just prefer the sand that much as to like it even over an increase of wattage?

The Derasa clams like the sand, I don't think I've ever seen one up on the rocks. If you have 400 watts of T-5's you could keep just about anything you wanted in there.
