couple of new pics

Since I'm too lazy to scroll and look for that new pics thread I'll start a new one one...
Just a few images I took the other day playing around with different settings and that sort of things.

Very Cool stuff Gene! Does this mean we are going to archive that 10,000 post thread now?

Thanks, Mike!

I don't know about that thread, I don't think it posed any difficulties performance wise, so maybe we should leave it for a bit longer. If there is no activity in it by the end of the week I think I'll archive it then.

Todd
Thanks,Todd, the coral in the third( and first as well) picture is Seriatopora sp.(birdsnest). I think you can easily get a frag of one if you go to your local club meeting, they are pretty popular corals and lots of people have them.

Well, for starters it;s WB is totally out of wack and you don't know how much time I spent correcting it in post processing. It really wears on me at times... maybe I;m just a person that is never satisfied with anything...
Take this shot of the tank, for example, it was so purple when I shot it it took me about 20 minutes playing with levels and curves to make it look as close to what I see in front of me as possible. The second pic is what I am talking about, look how purple it looks...

But thank you for the complement.

Mike,

I think outside of taking tank pictures the camera performs really well. I'll add two images where you can see that the colors are pretty much spot on.
I took this with Sigma's 24-135 f2.8 lens, this lens is growing on me for some reason... If you don't shoot at extremes of it;s focal range I think it performs pretty well, for the price.

PS. Edison is next town over from me so I wouldn't have to send it, I can simply drive over and give it to them.

Just another thought here, with all the new tanks that Reefland seems to be adopting, this thread could be bigger than the last one!!

As for the levels...this may be sacrilige to those who are die hard Post processing fans, but i hate them to. This is what i do: if i dont think it looks like the real thing i will try autolevels. seriously, 75% of the time it is close enough. If its a composition i REALLY like i will take the time to tweak it manually. But, and i mean no offense, for shots that i am going to hack down anyway (so they can fit) so i can post them up here, i wouldnt really waste my time. try it and see if you agree. Oh and have you tried a custom WB setting that you can just flip to each time you are on a tank shot? its a life saver.

Charlie, post away your pictures.., I love looking at your corals and whole tank shots.

The mille...one frag is still hanging on and two other colonies are just fine and growing.

Jamie,
I know what you are saying and I had done this in the past. However, I hate looking at the image if I know that colors are wrong in them, and I wouldn't want to post them on the internet either.
