PURPLE Coraline Algae
I want to know what lighting to use for my new Fiji rock. I want to keep the purple coraline algae alive on it. My tank is 26 inches tall. The Fiji Rock will be at the bottom of the tank for base rock (on top of the crushed coral of course). My tank is a 120 gallon. It measures 5 ft. X 18". I would like to maintain purple coraline algae without buying a power compact light. My normal aquarium bulbs are 40 watts each, and they are 4 ft. long. I use Two 4 ft. long Marine Glo Bulbs on this tank just because I like the way they make the tank look. Do you think purple coraline algae can be maintained without power compact lighting? Could I simply add TWO additional 4 ft, 40 watt Sun Glo's, or maybe even better Aqua Rays' lights?

Yes. Coralline usually starts in lower light areas on my tank. More important is proper Ca and Alk levels.
