MH and gorgonias
I have a 42 gallon hex tank , and was worried about 2 gorgonias that i have in the tank, i was thinking on upgrading my tank's lighing to Metal Halide, i want to get the Coralife 20k MH HQI Hang on tank light fixture, and was wondering if it will affect these gorgonias that i have.

Those are very nice! It is hard to tell if those are non-photosynthetic (I know nothing about them to tell if they are or aren't, both exist). With that said, I would take the same precautions here as with corals, slow acclimation to new lighting.

Your gorgonians look pretty healthy...nice polyp extension. How many watts are you talking about for the 42 hex and how deep is the tank?

That light will be fine for both of those Gorgonians. I'm pretty sure both of those are photosynthetic Caribbean species.
