nassarius snails = good nose??
Do Nassarius snails have an extremely good sense of smell? or is it just coincidence that as soon as i unscrew the top to the Fish Food, they start emerging from the sand? and they always head to the left side of the tank where the powerhead blows the food and it sinks to the lower water column. I think that is so cool, they work like a colony of ants, they move in a straight line like an army!
Does anyone else notice this with thier nassarius snails? Mark P.s. How many nassarius snails should i have in my 30 gal? i have 20 or so, and 10 cerith snails. I was thinking of ordering more, whats a good number to aim for? |

They must have a terrific sense of smell. They start crawling out of the woodwork --well, sand-- as soon as I set any food in the tank. I always feed in the left hand side of the tank and the snails start coming from the right side four feet away. And it's amazing how speedy they are!
I think you're supposed to have 1 nassarious per gallon, but I'm not sure on that. It certainly wouldn't be too many, anyway.
