Scott,
I used an HRV to ventilate my fishroom. Depending on climate though, a good exaust system and some form of new fresh air intake should do. I did have higher humidity in the summer when the outside air was also moist and did run a dehumidifier then.

My waste water went down the downstairs toilet or plastic fishroom laundry sink, {a must, }. This runs into the large concrete septic tank, which was low enough in the ground to handle basement drains. A pump on a float system, pumped it to the field. I cant see where the little amount of salt water I put in, compared with the waste water from the softener.

Well it has been a while since I have posted in this thread but it's time for an update.

We have the walls framed in the basement for the office, which includes the tank in the wall. This weekend we should be drywalling and hopefully next week will be flooring and finishing the rooms out. I have the tank in place and here is what we have so far:

75gal RR Tank
20gal sump
2-250w DE Metal Halides with 14k Phoenix Bulbs
Mag 7 return pump.
Bermuda Aquatics BPS-3C Skimmer with a Sedra 5000 pump
MRC Dual Chamber Calcium Reactor
Mag 18 on a closed loop
Plenty of powerheads and Streams if needed...

The tank room is on a dedicated ciruit and provides plenty of room for maintenance and access. I will get some pictures soon.

It is at my brothers in his new tank. However I think I will start with a new batch of liverock, a few frags from the monti's that we had and let the tank mature on it's own from there. I am hoping that the monti's, along with a few anthias with look pretty natural.

I thought I would post a progress report.

As mentioned, the room for tank is totally framed, wired, insulated and drywalled, although we are still putting the mud on the board.

Here is what we started with:

Here is what we have now:

Here is the rest of the office that the tank is in:

Here is the tank room:

And where the sump is going to sit:

Wow, someone has been pretty busy!!!
Can't wait to see it when things are up and running. I think I'll keep an eye on this for a while, I may get some ideas. Are you gonna have a sand bed?

Scott,

That is quite a project, and I'm quite envious. It is going to be absolutely gorgeous when you are finished!

Very Cool Scott! The tank looks a little low though, are you going to have a desk near it for viewing?

Mike,

The tank does look a little low in the wall but it is at the perfect height for viewing while sitting. We are going to put the desk on the opposite wall and place a couple of recliners in front of the tank.

Looks good Scott. Boy, we are a dedicated bunch to comment on an EMPTY fish tank, built into an empty wall...

I like the floor and wall color though, plus the trim looks way better then mine did!

Needs furniture though... where are you going to sit and watch the non-existent fish swim around the empty fish tank. ;-)

No really, nice job.

Geez, those guys just about covered everything. Now put water in it and we will really be impressed. Mike is right tho, either we are really dedicated, or it is starting to be the slow season..
Great job Scott, you put alot of work into it!!!
