Hi Friends,
Im having a big problem to control an algae bloom. It began a month ago when I stopped using RO water.Everything began when I started using tap water.... ( I will buy an RO unit soon ) But for now Im thinking to let the tank for a while with the Lights OFF, MAYBE 2-3 weeks.I think with the lights off the algae will go away. But I m worried about the corraline algae and the calerpa. Do you think they will die ??? Please help me with my problem. And another thing do my 2 fish live if I let them in the tank without lights.. ?? Thanks again.. Mark Bugeja ![]() |

The caulerpa will surely die without lights, the coraline will probably die back a bit but will eventually grow back.

you might try using carbon, and phospate removers. Remember most phospate removers should not be left in the tank more than 48 hours.

If I let about 20 watts ON only in the tank does the corraline and calerpa live ? The tank is 5 feet long and 2 feet width ( 200 gallon)
Thanks ![]() |
