    Clown sizes

Ok, for my tank with an eel I'm looking for what kind of clown pair that I should get.
I don't know the sizes of all these clowns, and even the male of the species can't b eaten by a 2 foot eel.

here are the kind I would like

    Tomato Clowns

    Pink Skunk

    Gold Stripe Maroon Clown

    Clarkii Clown

Would all of these clowns be able to survive with an eel.

    thanks all

Of those I would pick the Gold Stripe Maroon Clown. They are the most aggressive of the ones you mention and one of the largest, when fully grown.

You'll have to get a mated pair however, rather than just the first two you find. They are very intolerant of other fish in the tank like theirselves.

With eels I thought the rule of thumb is: if the fish is less than double the size of the eel's head it will get eaten. So it sounds like you'll need some good size ones.

I'm going to get mated pair of all of these, I was kinda leaning towards a goldstriped pair too. I also plan to try and get a full grown mated pair, and a 8" eel, so I'm not to worried about the clowns getting eaten

I don't have any experience with eel compatability, but I can give a little info about the clowns your mentioned

    Pink Skunk
    Female - 3"
    Male - 2.5"

    Clarkii
    Female - 4"
    Male - 4"

    Tomato
    Female - 4.5"
    Male - 2"

    Maroon
    Female - 5.5"
    Male - 2" (max)

These lengths are averages, and based on this information, I would lean towards the Clarkii clowns. These are my second favorite (behind Maroons.) Unlike most clowns where the males stay smaller than females, Clarii males grow to lengths identical to their femal counterparts. A pair of adult clarkii's should have the easiest time living with an eel. Maroons are my favorites, but males of this species rarely exceed two inches when paired with a female. They show the most extreme size-difference between sexes of all the clownfishes.

No matter what size clowns you get I think it would be best for you and the clowns to either choose the eel or the clowns. Without the protection of an anemone the eel will eventually kill the clowns. It will just be a matter of time before he gets around to it.
I have the mind of a 5 year old and own a fire extinquisher you cant imagine the things i do.
