Tidal Flats type tank
Does anyone know how tall turtle grass gets in actuality? I've found that most published desrciptions tend to be off. i.e. Many online sources say Freshwater Hornwart only grows to ~20 inches when in fact I've pulled a piece from my current tank at least 4 ft long, if not longer. One of my other plants isn't suppose to get much longer than hornwart and it's at least 6' long right now. And it's in a 20 gal tank.
Here's what I'm planning: A tidal flats style tank/refugium above (or in a different room above) my 225gal tank. I'm thinking at least a 5-6" DSB with maybe a couple non-aggressive fish to add a bit of movement and action to the tank. Keeping in mind that the tank is primarily for plankton production for the big tank. Any ideas on how tall the tank should be? I figure it's going to me no more than 36" x 12" x ???. Thanks for the help. As soon as I get my site up and running I plan on putting all my designs up so everyone can see what I'm doing. Tony |

Thx.
After reading that and realizing the turtle grass is not really native to the indo-pacific region I'm going to shy away from that approach in that tank. Tony |
