    Can anyone I.D. this Goby ?

    I have this goby in my reef tank , was purchased as an eel goby " Any info would be greatly appreciated ..

    Yes, it's an adult Convict Blenny (sometimes called an Engineer Goby). Scientific name: Pholidichthys leucotaenia. They like to dig a lot.

    Some people call it a goby and other people call it a blenny. It's neither.

    only down side is they love to dig dig in larger sizes this can cause rock landsides my local lfs guy and friend talked me out of them at least 5 times. once refusing to sell it to me all together only after reading more about them did I learn the favor he did me.. cool fish just can be trouble,

    If you don't want to have trouble with rock slides, you can re-stack your rocks directly on the glass and add the sand around them that way if they dig nothing will happen. My daughter bought 2 juvies but they disappeared
