I found the following growing on the LR in my slowly building reef tank. The first is about the size of a large marble and grew quickly to it's current size. The second, my guess a sponge of some sort, developed more slowly. I had poor lighting(a Coralife PC with 1.5 year old bulbs) until 2 weeks ago. Now I have 2x250 - 10K MH's with PC's, will the new light be too much for the new inhabitants??
Thank God for Reefland!!! Last edited by rjs5134; 04-01-2007 at 09:04 PM. |

The photo is not so great, but I'd say it's a type of algae. I have something that looks like it in my tank too. It grew pretty slowly in my tank though.
Is it kinda like red bubble algae shaped more like shelf mushrooms than bubbles? If you squeeze it, does it break open and is hollow inside? That's what mine is like. Sorry, I know this probably doesn't help much... but if you're worried about it, I wouldn't be. It looks like just "harmless" algae.
