Is this HAIR ALGAE

Can anyone identify this? I've got a clump of it growing on top of my wavebox,at the waterline.

Hard to tell from the image. Is it stringy or feathery in appearance? It does look like you have a few mini-stars in there.

It's feathery.

Any ideas?

Those were probably mini stars and I probably threw them out -- blah.

Do a search for Bryopsis, a bit tougher than hair algae to remove...

Yes, it is Bryopsis. So far it's only growing on top of my wavebox, right at the waterline. I'm going to try to scrape it off at the next water change.
If you have any other suggestions, please let me know.
There's always Elysia viridis sea slug.

Thanks for the ID

The natural range for Elysia viridis is the Northeast Atlantic, Norway to the Mediterranean.

Try E. crispata instead. Be forewarned that they will continually go over the overflow and down into your sump and they usually don't last more than a few months at most, assuming you have appropriate algae for them to feed on. Their natural diet consists of Caulerpa but they are reported to feed on Bryopsis in captivity.
