We got him from a LFS about 2mo's ago,and they had him for atleast a month..he's been like old fathfull everyday untill this moring... yesterday he was fine and HUGE,but this moring when my GF got up she found that the power strip had came unpluged thur out the night and when she turned on the lights this is what the plate looked like im sure that he's diein, but is there anything i can do to try and stop it?and what could have caused this?LMK SOMETHING ASAP PLZZZZ....

Did another coral come into contact with it?

no..but it seems to be doing better now tho...

I'll move this post into the Reef Aquarium Forum. Maybe someone there can help you. In this Forum mostly fish people hang.

Good luck!

He doesn't look like a gone-er to me yet....just deflated at this point.
Hopefully, he'll be fine, but if he does appear to die, leave the skeleton
in the tank for about 6 months... plates have been know to generate
new little frags off of apparently dead skeletons.

In the last 5 months or so plate corals have become my most prized inhabitants. One thing you have got to understand about them is that they do strange things sometimes. Don't ever give up on one because they will surprise you.
1. They eat like pigs and imo need to be fed, Mine eat whatever falls on them.
2. They are extremely hardy and resistant to dying. I've had a herpolitha and a fungia lose all tissue to the naked eye only to have them recover completely with more vibrant colors.
Sometimes the tentacles will "wilt" only to return again to normal in a few days. Sometimes they puff up in an attempt to either get more light or move a little bit.
Be patient and it will most likely be ok.

Looking over you pictures again I see some what appears to be slime coming from the back side. I've seen them slime when I have to move them in fact they produce a ton of the stuff but I've never seen mine do that at random...I don't like the looks of it if it's just been sitting there doing that.

I'm sure it will bounce back once the tank returns to normal.

Regards,
Kevin

My bad. The individual posted messages didn't remain individual?
