A 54l (15-gal) tank is too small for a Royal Gramma but would be barely adequate for a small clownfish (or pair). That lighting should be adequate for some soft corals, especially in such a shallow tank.

    Good luck!

As far as fish are concerned, a 15-gal (54l) tank is large enough for small gobies and it's just barely large enough for a pair of Amphiprion percula or A. ocellaris. Nano tanks are difficult when it comes to fish.

You could also think about turning it into an invert tank, with shrimp, etc...

Just tell your wife that having a tank teaches you all sorts of new DIY skills...which will save lots of money around the house...so you can buy more stuff for your tank...so you can learn more skills...
