star polyps

i have just got my self a star polyp collany, the polyps were fully extended in the store, and have been in the store for about 2 months now.
when i took it home i drip aclimatised it for about an hour and its been in my tank under 2 39w T8 marine white and 1 39w T8 marine blue for about 2 hours and its still not extending, is this normal
its about 6 inches deep and the T8s are about 6 inches off the surface of the water

how long should it take for them to extend again?

cheers james

its only been 2 hours. be patient. if they stay in for 24-48 hours i would pick another place to put it. more or less water flow or lighting sometimes does the trick.

These are very tolerant corals, I am sure you will see expansion soon.

My GSP will close up for a day or two sometimes, then come right back out. Be patient, soon these will take over your tank, and you will be asking how to get rid of them!

When I fragged mine, a few of the frags took about a week to come out... but they did fine.... star corals spead quickly... once they start growing on something you don't want them to grow on, you'll find out exactly how hearty they are....

I bought a frag last week of the same colour. Nice to see what the colony will look like.

a little bigger than a silver dollar...damn you have pounds. about the size of the circle of your middle finger touching your thumb. It was $10. It loves it's spot in the tank.
