In general do all polyps require the same thing? First, I should ask...WHAT do they require? Because, I just set up a tank for my grandpa for father's day and he gave me his Credit card to order from IPSF and i thought to myself...hmmm, perfect time to snag some stuff LIKE the Anthelia polyps (and some snails)... (and some ministars)
...but i don't know what they require...TIA

I just ordered some, to arrive tomorow, and they are pretty much beginners corals, will thrive in PC lighting, moderate current, Im not sure wether they all require the same thing (theres always some odd ball species!) HTH!

MastaJ,
The polyps i have were extremely easy to acclimate, and took well to the lighting situation i have. i would recommend getting them! mark |

I have the Antelia polyps from IPSF. Rather small colony (About 1 square inch -- 10 polyps or so) but a really easy coral. I've only got PC lighting, and it's grown about 50% in a month and a half.
All I do is dose DT's every other day just after lights out and it's flourishing. HTH Rob |

Do be careful if you get the IPSF. I got mine yesterday and they had aiptasia on the shell they were on. FishKid posted about the same thing. I acclimated mine and then put them in a bowl of tank water and used a sharp knife to scrape them off. We'll see if I got them all, but I figure they will grow enough to see before they spread off the shell anyway.
Mine are about the same size as RobG's. I have NO lighting but my VHO is due in Tuesday!! |

So thats kind of a vague statement....there is star polyps, button polyps, polyps on gorgonians, etc etc....as far as the anthelia I agree to above statements from what I have heard....I have seen ppl put in High current too and they do good. Here is an excerpt from another website I found Closely related to Anthelia is the genus Xenia. There are many species of Xenia available, some that rhythmically pulsate their polyps. Xenia tend to be rather delicate and are not recommended for the beginner. These two corals do not feed and most likely get their nutrition from their zooxanthellae and direct uptake from the water.

I never even thought about the word Polyps, in the sense that i was talking about ANY kind of coral pretty much, lol. But, anyway...thank you guys for your input, I do think I will get them, but, I will watch for Aptasia
! So, I should find a spot with moderate current and lighting? I think I can do that... Thanks guys....
