THAT IS A FREAKING AMAZING BTA! HOLY CRAP! That's seriously only ONE ANEMONE?!?!

How long did it take to take over that tank? How much and when were you feeding it? What happens as it gets too big for that tank?

How much do you have to feed an anemone that big, anyway?

I've never seen anything like that =0

No! That's not one anemone. I said that zhenya started out with just one anemone. Entacmaea quadricolor multiplies both sexually and asexually. In our tanks, they multiply asexually by splitting. That picture shows probably around 20 individual anemones and that's after zhenya gave some of them away. He couldn't give them away fast enough.

Last time I counted there was about 28 of them, maybe more. However, I see more freshly cloned individuals as it is easy to see them because they are much lighter in color. They color up after couple of weeks but it makes it easier to see how many new ones you have while they are lighter in color.
They range widely in size, too. Some are over foot accross and some are only 4 inches or so and anything in between.

To feed all of them I go through a 8oz. pack of frozen silversides every two weeks. Also, I can't truthfully say that I can reach all of them individually to target feed them. I get most but some are way too far for me to get to, so they get on the move at times to get a better position, like the one in the picture below.

I have one of Gene's beauties and it has split a couple of times. We feed all our anemones silversides that are packaged for fish food use. Your local LFS should carry them. I believe they are Ocean Nutrition brand.

Bleached anemones that are feeding well and are sticky to the touch usually recover fully in just a few weeks. The "Reef Aquarium Volume 2" has a good section on anemones with lots of pictures that may help to identify yours.

Regards,
Kevin
