another RTN or RTD question

i think my pocillopora is suffering from RTN or possible polyp bail out. i noticed it about a few weeks ago. seems to be progressing very slowly though, unlike the overnight rapid tissue necrosis that ive read about.

i started noticing it when the lights blew out for a week and a half.

if the problem was stress from lack of light, and now it gets sufficient light, will the tissue keep degenerating? or can it grow back. if its something else, can i buy a lugol's dip solution? or do i have to mix it up myself is this a call for surgery?

i think if this coral dies im done with this hobbie(for now). its just way too time consuming, expensive (another 70 bucks down the drain ), and sad. if i were to do it all over again i would save 7 grand and get a real system.
i would be more paitient, 180 g., buy the best skimmer i could afford, get a good quarantine tank, a nice fuge, uv sterilizer, ozone, calc reactor, 4 individually controlled 200 w MH lights...the works.

Hello,
I would make sure it has plenty of water flow and the tank temperature stays 80F or so. You can't realy see polyp bailout on this coral, you just see colonies sprouting all over your tank like on the glass, powerheads, etc.

HTH,
Kevin

I wouldn't try to dip it. What is your calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium? Do you have another tank you could put it in? Have you tried a large water change?

Regards,
Kevin
