Mark,
Just got a big order from them last week. Actually 1st shipment was my casualty of the Houston floods. Mellissa at PA was great though. Got me out a replacement order within a day. Not good when a Sat delivery shows up Monday. Anyways I digress. If I remember correctly, I thought my cerinth and Nass. came dry packed as well. I just dropped them all in, no prob. I'm assuming by your question that yours came with water. If so, just do the normal acclimation procedure. Either every 5 minutes or so add some tank water, or set up a siphon with a fast drip to acclimate them. My experience is they seem very hardy. How'd the test go??? Much easier to cut out of work to pick up an order. |

Every animal is in the tank, the polyps are opening already! i was starting to get worried, because one of the ceriths i put in the tank, seems to have gone into shock...
The first thing i though when i saw the queen conch was "dear god, it has eyes!" there was a hitchhiker snail on the polyps, so i took it off, and put it in one of the bags, with water, it is black, and has some white dashes, im afraid it might be preditorial, also in a crevice in the rock the polyps are on, i saw three bubbles, it might be grape caulerpa, but i think grape caulerpa is a little different looking, the "bubbles" are blackish green, and are directly connected to each other, any ideas? all snails were shipped dry, i acclimated them anyway, because dont they have to acclimate their insides for the higher salinity? mark p.s. I recommend the blue banded hermit, as soon as i put him in, there is a big section of sand that has been stirred, and it ate allot of diatom algae! |

the 3 bubbles.....this is a guess but....sounds like valonia algae to me......this is bad stuff....i got it in my tank it is spreading at a medium rate but right now i'm at a loss of ideas on how to rid myself of it. emerald crabs eat it but emeralds tend to get large and aggressive or so i hear. i dont think what you describe is grape caul. if its just little dark gree bubbles i'd say its bubble algae. sorry to be the barer of bad news but thats just my guess...it'd be great if you had a pic. that'd make it much easier to make the call.
