Define high flow, medium, low flow
How would one classify high flow versus low & medium flow. I have a seio 820 on one side of my 65(36"W) gallon tank which outlets across the top of the live rock to the opposite side. Would this be too much flow for corals classified as desiring medium or high flow conditions?

Defining that is difficult to do. 1000gph coming out of a 2" opening would be considered low flow in front of the opening, as where 1000gph coming out of a 1/2" opening would be considered high flow in front of the opening.
On a good note, there isn't really a such thing as too much flow in our captive systems. There is a such thing as too much flow velocity though. In our 75 gallon previously, we ran 4 MJ 1200's and 2 Tunze Stream 6060's, in addition to the return pump. To me, that was not too much flow. |
