Adding Strontium & Iodine
Hi all,
I am just beginning to coral to my tank and all LFS said I need to add things like strontium and iodine to the water. What is your take? Are they really necessary? |

There is absolutely no demonstrated need to add strontium or iodine. You also can't accurately test for either, so there is the potential to overdose.
Calcium and alkalinity are all you should have to dose.

I agree, and for smaller tanks I would use a 2-part additive for calcium and alkalinity. Ocean Blend, B-Ionic, Kent A & B, etc.
