Shoot, no eel

I made the mistake of talking about my eel to my dad when my mom was in the next room. My mother hates snakes, and I guess she considers eels in the snake family so she said she shoot the eel if I ever got one lloks like no eel for me

on the bright side I should be able to keep sps corals since I'm going for a 250w mh lighting system on my 55g

Sorry to hear that man.. But SPS are certainly very interesting as well, just make sure ur tank is very established first. For some reason, most females I've met does not like snakes or eels.

Wait till u move out or something, then u can have a F.O., a full reef, and nanos......

well look at it this way....you didnt get your eel but you learned something about them for the future. like Shumala said when you move out you can get whatever you please and sps are awesome corals so i think you got a good back up since you couldnt get what you initially wanted. good luck w/ the sps and trust me a snowflake will be ready for you in a few short years whenever you get out of the house. i'm just lucky enough that my mom was a farm girl so she's pretty much afraid of nothing except mice/rats.....but w/ as many cats as we have out here we never see either. good luck mikeman.

Mike, you might start asking your GF's what they feel about them, she might be worse than your mom...
My wife is the same, she hates snakes. But she tolerates my new obsession with saltwater aquariums with DSBs and detrivores until, last night when we saw a 6 in bristle worm Boy, she started freaking out and swore to grab that thing and chop it. I had to warn her not to mess with it because its not called bristle worm for nothing...
