Gorgonian
My wife wants a yellow gorgonian for our 110 gallon but I am not all that familiar with them. Does anyone have experience or information they can share?

They're hard to feed and thus hard to keep. But depending on what other kinds of corals you have and what your tank set-up is like, you might be able to keep one...

I agree. Feeding is the challenge with the hard to keep gorgs. Make sure to feed plenty of phyto and zooplankton if you do attempt one.

Yeah... and oyster eggs are supposed to be really good for them too (I guess that falls under zooplankton, huh?)

I haven't used that product from DT's yet, but plan to as our new tank matures (and needs it). I hear good stuff about it.

I love it. I think anyone with corals with poor prey capture should probably use it. A little goes a long way and you can keep it in the freezer for like 2 years.

Saltie,
I don't think there is anything special, other than ensuring the proper food is being added to the tank in quantities enough for the Gorgonian, but not to overfeed the tank. |

I agree with Scott... I don't have one, but I imagine trying to target feed them is probably going to end up being more stressful than helpfull since you'd almost have to put a bag over the coral or something like that.

Re: Gorgonian
You can get a photosynthetic Gorgonian so you wont have to worry about feeding. Get the one from the genus Gorgonia, Pseudopterogorgia, and Ptergorgia which are easy to take care.
here is what I got. ![]() |
