Confused Clown Fish?
I have a rather unique situation on my hands and i am not sure what to make of it. My male clown seems to be a little confused, as it is my impression that clown fish will occasionally feed the anemone it has bonded with. The problem is when i feed my anemony, my male clown will go into the anemone and remove the food before the anemone can take down the food. I try to distract the clown, offering my own hand in repacement (which the female eagerly accepts
) i have even had that little.... pull the food right out of the "mouth" of the anemone. what can i do![]() |

Clownfish do not feed the anemone. They have the habit of grabbing too large of a piece of food and running back to the anemone. They anemone detects the food and stings it, and then tries to eat it. The clown sees that its food is disapearing and pulls it back. This is a very common action. I chase my clown away with tongs when feeding my anemone. You can also place a strawberry basket over the anemone with a small rock to hold it down for a half hour or so until the anemone has had a chance to consume the food.
Regards, Kevin
